The Nonlinear Optical Microscopy (NLOM) Lab (https://sites.uci.edu/nlom/ ) at the Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic at UC Irvine is seeking a post-doctoral scholar or an assistant project scientist (depending on experience and research interest of the candidate) to work on an exciting project to develop and apply instrumentation based on multiphoton microscopy to clinical skin imaging for applications related to early cancer detection and monitoring the effects of therapies. We are looking for highly motivated individuals with interest in research and applications of optical imaging technologies to address clinical needs.  The position is for two years with the possibility of renewal based on performance. For the postdoctoral position, at the end of the postdoctoral training, the candidate may be encouraged to continue as a staff scientist based on performance and funding availability. The successful candidate will work on NIH-funded multidisciplinary projects in collaboration with industry and clinical collaborators to advance the development of multiphoton microscopy for clinical applications. Requirements: PhD preferably in Physics, Optics, Chemistry or related Engineering field. Preferred qualifications: experience with nonlinear optical microscopy and/or other optical imaging techniques, proficiency in microscopy image processing and analysis (Matlab, Python, ImageJ, etc). Candidates for the Assistant Project Scientist position will preferably have 3+ years of academic or industry relevant experience following the doctoral degree.
