To provide an individual who has recently been awarded a doctorate to undertake the responsibilities of a researcher and teacher. Coordinate, manage, and conduct research to serve the needs of the University of Maine. Engage in human dimensions research in the area of One Health and tourism, while sharing results with tourism and public health stakeholders. Work as part of an interdisciplinary team of faculty and students on a National Science Foundation grant to advance the understanding on the feedback loops between tourism and emerging diseases. Typical hiring salary for this position is up to $55,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Required:

  • PhD in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, One Health, Conservation Social Sciences, Environmental Anthropology, or related fields. 
  • Prior research experience with quantitative and qualitative applied social science research.
  • Experience with conducting multivariate statistical analysis.
  • Ability to develop manuscripts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated oral communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with planning and facilitating participatory workshops.
  • Ability to effectively work in cross-cultural settings.
  • Knowledge of Spanish.
  • Experience working in Latin America.
  • Must be eligible to accept employment in the United States at the time the appointment is made.
