Job Summary:

The Rogers Lab at the Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Scientist to join our team. A significant area of research in the Rogers Lab focuses on: a) the development of next-generation therapeutics, b) the molecular and cellular basis of disease and regenerative therapeutics, c) and translational studies using preclinical models of human disease. The overarching goal of the lab is to discover and develop clinically-realistic therapeutic solutions for diseases refractory to conventional approaches. The Postdoctoral Scientist in the Rogers Lab will create and lead impactful research to better understand mechanisms of disease and related therapeutics. 

Working independently but in close cooperation and in consultation with the Principal Investigator and other Research Scientist, the Research Fellow will perform routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period.  May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols.  Analyzes and interprets data.  May assist in preparation of grant proposals.  Participates in publications and presentations as author or co-author.

Designs and performs experiments. Will keep appropriate experimental records and documentation and analyze the results with the Principal Investigator. 

May develop, adapt, and implement new research techniques and protocols.
 
Analyzes, interprets, summarizes and compiles data.  

Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures throughout training period.

Operates and maintains equipment and instruments.

 

Educational Requirements:

 

A Doctorate (MD, PhD, VMD, or DDS) in area directly related to field of research specialization.

Experience:

 

Acquires thorough technical and theoretical knowledge of research project and objectives during one to five (1-5) year postdoctoral appointment. Demonstrated aptitude to perform experimental protocols and procedures, including detailed data collection, and analysis and operation and maintenance of specialized equipment. Knowledge of safety standards and maintenance of specialized equipment. Self-starter, works productively with minimal supervision. Cooperate fully with laboratory personnel in lab maintenance, procedures, protocols, and attend lab meetings. Ability to work independently on research projects designed by a mentor (typically the PI) within area of specialization.

Physical Demands:

Ability to sit or stand for periods of time during laboratory procedures; use computer, mapping and imaging systems
