Salary range: The current minimum pay range is $71,500 - $82,900, as defined in Table 37-B of the UC salary scales.

Position description
The Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology is recruiting for an Assistant Project Scientist. The candidate will study virus host interactions, with an emphasis on SARS-CoV-2 (the causative agent of COVID-19) while assisting studies of other viruses (Dengue, Zika and Hanta). Also involved are studies of molecular interactions critical for viral replication using stem cell and animal model systems; and help developing antiviral candidates against Corona and Flavi viruses. The candidate will be expected to help supervise graduate students and undergraduate students in the lab.
Requirements for the position: PhD in microbiology or biochemistry, postdoctoral research experience in RNA or DNA viruses, stem cell biology, organoid culture and a strong publication track record. Experience in viral genomics, academic management, and excellent scientific writing skills are also a must.
