Job Description


A postdoctoral fellow position is available beginning Fall 2023 in the laboratory of Dr. Christine Alewine at the Center for Cancer Research, National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Dr. Alewine’s program focuses on identifying new treatments for pancreatic cancer through clinical and translational bench research. For more information about the lab see:

The current position is laboratory-based on the Bethesda campus. The successful applicant is expected to semi-independently pursue an innovative research project that fits the lab’s translational research program in pancreatic cancer, contribute to research conducted by other scientists within the laboratory, pro-actively interact with collaborators, and provide training and mentorship to incoming students. Researchers have access to a wide variety of resources including dedicated, high-quality technology cores in areas such as flow cytometry, sequencing, bioinformatics, and imaging/ microscopy.


Qualifications:

A PhD, an MD or equivalent (within the last 5 years) are required to be eligible for this position. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, solid experience using mouse models of cancer and conventional cell & molecular biology techniques (e.g. western blotting, RT-PCR, lentiviral transduction, ELISA), strong interest in pancreatic cancer and/ or translational research, and ability to collaborate with colleagues and trainees with different scientific expertise and objectives. Preference will be given to candidates who additionally have demonstrated expertise in immunohistochemistry, pathology, flow cytometry, and/or bioinformatics.
