Essential Functions

  • The research will involve synthesis and chemical modification of two-dimensional transition metal carbides and nitrides (MXenes).
  • Supervise graduate and undergraduate students
  • Presentations at national/international meetings and publication of scientific results in high profile peer-reviewed journals are expected.
  • Participate creatively in refining program directions
  • Other duties include but not limited to writing reports and managing the research project.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a closely related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience with:
    • Crystallography
    • X-ray diffraction
    • Transmission electron microscopy
    • X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with powder metallurgy techniques
  • Experience with wet-laboratory experience
  • Experience with synchrotron-based characterization techniques neutron/X-ray pdf
  • Self-starter, able to work independently
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with a broad range of colleagues.
