Postdoctoral Associate

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Doctoral degree (or foreign equivalent) in Biology, Pharmacology or a closely related field.  Experience in mouse models, cell culture, protein analysis by western blotting, the analysis of gene expression (qRT-PCR), genetic manipulation (ex. CRISPR, shRNA, over-expression). Strong data analysis, interpretation skills and demonstrated publication record.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in working with animal models of disease. Experience with lineage tracing in animal models. Single cell DNA, RNA/ATAC sequencing and related computational analyses. Experience with biochemical characterization of signaling pathways, 3D spheroid and Organoid culture. Experience with immunostaining, confocal microscopy, and flow cytometry.

Brief Description of Duties:
The
Talos Laboratory of Principal Investigator Dr. Flaminia Talos at Stony Brook Cancer Center and Departments of Urology and Pathology at Stony Brook Medicine, is seeking highly motivated candidates for postdoctoral training in the field of tumor evolution to work on a cutting-edge, interdisciplinary, and cross-institutional research, focused on the mechanisms of immune control of intratumor heterogeneity and clonal competition in prostate and bladder cancer. In vivo lineage tracing in mouse models, spatial and single cells transcriptomics, organoid cultures and in vitro immune assays and computational approaches to study cellular and clonal heterogeneity.

The successful candidate will work with basic, translational and clinical scientists at Stony Brook University.  The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University. The ideal candidate is a molecular and cellular biologist, experienced in developing and working with in vivo and in vitro models of disease. The incumbent should also have strong oral and written communication skills, as well as possess the ability to work both independently and as a productive member of a research team.

The Talos Lab is located in the new Stony Brook Cancer Center’s facility — the Medical and Research Translational (MART) building — designed to bring together cancer researchers and clinical investigators in close physical proximity to effortlessly join forces in collaborating and focusing on important cancer problems. Their overall goal is to build the most comprehensive, integrated and unified team with the purpose of investigating, discovering and driving innovation in cancer treatment and prevention.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding.
