Plant Biodiversity and Evolution

The Department of Integrative Biology at the University of Texas at Austin seeks to fill a faculty position in the area of Plant Biodiversity and Evolution at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor.  Candidates' research accomplishments and aims should show evidence of originality and innovation in addressing significant questions in plant biodiversity and evolution.  Specific areas of expertise that are of interest include but are not limited to phylogenomics, systematics, speciation, macroevolution, and biogeography. We are particularly interested in candidates who employ innovative analytical and genomic approaches to investigate fundamental questions in diversification and evolution of plants.

The Department of Integrative Biology is strongly committed to the success of junior faculty, and we envision a new faculty colleague that shares our commitment to mentoring and supporting trainees from all backgrounds and career stages. For research and educational purposes, we host vast plant collections (over 1 million specimens in the Billie L. Turner Plant Resources Center(PRC)-https://biodiversity.utexas.edu/collections/plants ) and a growing network of field stations (https://biodiversity.utexas.edu/field-stations-page ), both within our Biodiversity Center (https://biodiversity.utexas.edu ). The candidate hired for this position will have the opportunity to be engaged in leadership and in future directions of the PRC and the Field Station Network, according to their research and teaching interests. We seek applicants with a strong record of high-quality research, including influential publications and demonstrated ability to obtain extramural research funding, and a commitment to excellent teaching.  A PhD or equivalent is required at the time of appointment, and postdoctoral research experience is strongly recommended.
