The School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences seeks a Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) to perform innovative research in the field of Biochemistry and Virology. The successful candidate will be expected to begin in the Fall 2019 term.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Perform scientific research in laboratory
2. Build scientific collaboration with USM faculty members
3. Publish in peer-reviewed scientific journals
4. Establish independent research and apply for extramural funding
Applicant must have earned a Ph.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry and must have several years of postdoctoral training in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The applicant must have experience working with HIV strains.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
HIV proteins expression and purification, enzymology applied to drug discovery, molecular biology techniques including cloning, site directed mutagenesis and RT PCR, mammalian cell culture techniques applied to HIV, assay automation using robotic equipment.
Documented experience working on HIV-1 integrase mechanisms of inhibition.
