Staff Scientist, Cellular Neurophysiology

Job Description


The Cellular Neurophysiology Section headed by Zayd Khaliq at the NINDS Intramural Research Program is seeking a Staff Scientist. The laboratory’s focuses on the physiology and function of neurons in the dopamine system and basal ganglia and their dysfunction in mouse models of Parkinson’s disease. The Khaliq lab combines a variety of approaches including electrophysiological, optical, genetic, computational and behavioral approaches.


Qualifications:

Applicants should have a PhD in the biology, chemistry, physics and a minimum of 2 years postdoctoral research experience in experimental neuroscience. We are particularly interested in motivated scientists with expertise in electrophysiology and/or imaging approaches to examine neural circuits either in vitro or in vivo. Successful candidates will also have a history of scholarship evidenced by authorship of peer-reviewed publications. In addition, the candidate must have a demonstrated ability to function both independently and as part of a team.
