What we want

The Postdoctoral Research Associate will support a project that has the potential of advancing knowledge and understanding of the Latina student population that could strongly contribute to increasing the presence of Latinas as students in higher education institutions and as professionals in the STEM Fields. The Postdoctoral Research Associate will coordinate the design and execution of the project, which includes interviews and focus groups with Latina STEM students at Texas institutions of higher education. Salary: Compensation will be commensurate with selected hire's experience.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate PhD.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional working relationships with people from various backgrounds.  

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Demonstrated record of scholarship and the ability to publish research paper.
  • Strong interest in writing for publication.
  • Experience working at institution of higher education.
  • Experience with project planning and coordination.
  • Extensive experience/training in qualitative research methods, conducting interviews and focus groups, and coding large amounts of qualitative data.
  • Research expertise and understanding of literature related to Latinas in STEM, resilience, and/or under-served student populations.

 

Essential Duties/Tasks

Data management and analysis

  • Develops and maintains processes that document and verify data collected.
  • Maintains organization of qualitative data.
  • Maintains/Verifies subject ID coding and privacy, such as consent forms.
  • Prepares data for qualitative analysis.
  • Supports, performs, and/or leads analysis activities.
  • Prepares public facing datasets to accompany publications.

 

Leading multidisciplinary team of students to execute research activities

  • Coordinates, mentors, and supports graduate and undergraduate students conducting research activities, such as writing or data analysis.
  • Facilitates communication among team and PI’s.
  • Maintains progression of study aims.

 

Support dissemination of research findings

  • Develops and submits proposals and presents findings at research conferences.
  • Develops high quality manuscripts by preparing methods, analysis, and findings.
  • Writes proposals, manuscripts, abstracts, and reports related to project and may perform other duties as assigned.
