Required Qualification (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s Degree in health and human service or health administration. Three (3) years of full-time professional administrative level experience. Experience coordinating activities with community-based and/or governmental organizations.


Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in health and human service or health administration. Five (5) years of full-time professional administrative level experience. Knowledge of programs and/or service delivery in the field of HIV/AIDS, Harm Reduction, Hepatitis C, and/or other chronic health conditions. Bi-lingual in Spanish and/or Creole. Budget development and/or budget management experience. Supervisory experience.


Brief Description of Duties:
The Program Coordinator reports to the Director and supports the Center for Public Health Education program along with other responsibilities to the School of Health Professions.

The Program Coordinator will have the primary responsibility of coordinating the Northeast/Caribbean AIDS Education and Training Center grant which includes work plan development, scheduling of training for clinical providers at various locations throughout Nassau, Suffolk, and Queens counties; establishing new local program sites, monthly reports for existing programs and new initiatives; and to oversee all quality improvement projects.

In addition, this position will provide assistance to the Director in the management of the other Center for Public Health Education (CPHE), programs, which include the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute Regional Training Center for HIV/STI and Viral Hepatitis and the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute Peer Certification Academic Center.

Other duties include recruitment of consultant trainers and management of course scheduling; assist with the supervision of CPHE consultants including educators and administrative staff; manage outreach activities and registration for courses offered HIV/AIDS to health and human service providers.

The Program Coordinator will work with the Director, AETC and NYSDOH AIDS Institute program staff, health and human service providers including peer workers in the community. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

General Administrative Duties

  • Represents the program in HIV specific workgroups through the established grants as per funder requirements including AIDS Education and Training Center grants required work groups on Economic, Social and Cultural Issues for HIV, Faculty Development, Minority AIDS Initiative and Ending the HIV Epidemic.
  • Participates in the local and state HIV planning bodies as well as local and regional efforts to End the HIV Epidemic
  • Receives and responds to all incoming program calls and emails and serves as a contact for the program
  • Assists with the creation and management of training calendars
  • Assists with the recruitment of consultants and the development of consultant contracts
  • Assists with budget development and management of expenditures for the programs
  • Develops monthly reports and assists with annual work plans for funders
  • Assists with all Quality Improvement initiatives for program and report findings to funders

Academic Administration

  • Coordinates the AETC training calendar and all HIV training events for the program via funders registration systems. Assists with the NYSDOH Regional Training Center calendar.
  • Assists with the management of all records for training, including attendance and evaluations as required by funders
  • Assists with the Peer Certification Academic Center quarterly Peer Review Board Meetings
  • Assists the Director funders topics for curricula development and helps manage the development by CPHE staff and/or consultants
  • Submits all clinical curricula for HRSA review and approval when presenting training on a statewide level
  • Submits documentation for approval Office of Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits pertaining to relevant courses
  • Assists the with review and updating of all marketing materials for distribution and the program’s website
  • Acts as a local resource for HIV Community Based Agencies and provide technical assistance as it relates to HIV

 

  • Other related duties as assigned as appropriate to rank and programmatic mission

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
