Description

The Department of Medicine is currently seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Staff Research Associate I. This position is instrumental in advancing our research efforts in the field of molecular biology, with a primary focus on lung cancer treatment and related areas such as head and neck and breast cancer. As A staff Research Associate I, you will play a critical role in conducting various research procedures and contributing to the overall success of our laboratory. You will also perform a wide range of laboratory procedures related to molecular biology research under the supervision of senior researchers, conduct experiments, collect and analyze data, and maintain accurate records to contribute to ongoing research projects. Finally, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and optimize experimental protocols and ensure high-quality results. Target hourly rate: $24.88-$29.67



  • JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications

Required: * Knowledge of basic genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles. * Ability to use basic laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, PCR, etc. * Demonstrated ability to calculate concentrations of solutions as necessary. * Ability to carefully handle mice according to ARC guidelines. * Familiarity with techniques including SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, , ELISA, chromatography, and binding assays. * Ability to organize raw data into a comprehensible form. * Ability to maintain laboratory readiness for future experiments. * Knowledge of MS Excel, MS Word and WordPerfect. * Ability to communicate effectively to convey experimental results. * Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students. * Demonstrate previous experience teaching and training students in laboratory research. Train new members of the lab in laboratory techniques. * Experienced in performing 2-dimensional () (2D) cell culture of tumor cell lines for biological experiments including analysis of growth, metabolism and cell death. * Experienced in performing metabolic analysis of tumor cells related to mitochondrial bioenergetics. Adept at whole cell analysis as well as biochemical analysis of mitochondrial function and respiration. * Aptitude and willingness to learn and execute in vivo work in murine models of cancer studying mitochondrial function in tumors. Preferred: * B.S. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field.
