Job Description


The Division of Computational Biology, within the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences, is seeking a highly motivated Computational Biologist to develop and apply innovative computational approaches for omic data analysis to advance the discovery of biological processes. Key priority areas of interest include: 1) spatial modeling for single cell proteomics/RNA-seq data; 2) computational integration of a variety of omics data (e.g., gene expression, DNA methylation, HiC/HiChip/ATAC, chromatin accessibility data) for functional genomics predictions; 3) models for predicting structural and dynamic protein actions.

The Division of Computational Biology consists of a large group of scientists focused on developing and applying advanced analytical methods across broad areas of medicine. The candidate will be a key member of an interdisciplinary team that leverages computational methods and AI for biomedical discovery and will be closely aligned with priorities of groups across the enterprise such as the Center for Individualized Medicine, the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the Center for Biomedical Discovery.

The candidate will develop productive research networks across the Mayo Clinic enterprise, develop innovative computational solutions for high priority research areas, develop and lead an area of unique research, have leadership skills with the ability to give scientific direction to a team of support staff, have excellent communication skills, mentor postdoctoral fellows and junior faculty, and provide education on topics relevant to expertise. The successful candidate will be an outstanding scholar with a record of achievement and demonstrated ability to build a successful research program.

The Division of Computational Biology

The Division of Computational Biology leads research in statistical genomics, bioinformatics and computational biology and develops and applies innovative analytical techniques for biomedical discovery and translational research across a range of medical conditions. The division partners with scientists and clinicians throughout Mayo Clinic to carry out cutting-edge research to enhance the understanding of disease and improve health care.
