Job Description: | The Department of Chemistry is seeking a Manager, Accounting. This position is responsible for the overall administration of the Department of Chemistry’s fiscal staff and functions including accounting, purchasing, grants administration, and travel for a department that has approximately 43 tenure track faculty members, 17 teaching and research support faculty members, 41 staff members, over 250 graduate students, and more than 20 postdoctoral and other scientific associates. The position carries with it a high degree of financial responsibility and maintains budgetary control for the department’s various revenue streams including state allocations, research grant funding, indirect cost return income, private donations to the UF Foundation, and auxiliaries. This position maintains accurate ledgers detailing departmental expenditures and reconciles accounts to agree with the university’s PeopleSoft Finance System. The Manager, Accounting, is responsible for understanding and ensuring unit compliance with federal, state, university, and sponsoring agency regulations, policies, and procedures. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Responsible for managing the fiscal and accounting functions of a large department, while applying accounting principles and practices to these activities. Investigates and analyze accounting errors and work with appropriate staff to resolve the issues. Ensures compliance with applicable standards and for ensuring separation of duties with all processes. These duties include procurement, grants administration, reconciliation, employee reimbursements, scholarships, and material and supply and equipment use fee management.
Provide financial and administrative reports as requested or required by the chair, college, university, or other departments. This position is responsible for informing the chair of all financial activities on a regular basis.

Expected Salary: | The salary range is $60,500 - $70,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience, and the compensation includes a full benefits package. |
Minimum Requirements: | A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and six years of appropriate experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. |
Preferred Qualifications: | PeopleSoft experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office and Teams is required. Knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures and methods of data collection. Ability to design and implement accounting systems and prepare financial reports. Ability to analyze and interpret accounting information and maintain numerous accounting systems. Demonstrated proficiency in state funds and sponsored projects accounting. Strong PeopleSoft Enterprise Reporting system skills are preferred. Excellent oral and written communications skills, personnel management skills and experience are preferred. Experience with grants management is a plus. |
