The Cardiovascular Research Center is seeking Associate Scientist to assist in developing projects in the field of cardiac cell and molecular biology. The projects particularly focus on effect of adeno associated viruses mediated delivery of non-coding RNA in modulating disease response after cardiac injury. The successful candidates should have a strong background in cardiac physiology and molecular biology and should have experience with performing echocardiography, hemodynamics,  mammalian cell culture and molecular biology techniques including manipulation of DNA, RNA and protein expression.

Responsibilities include: 
•    Autonomously manage day-to-day research activities with in-depth technical knowledge and experience in cardiovascular field
•    Designs and executes experimental protocols for assigned projects
•    Serves as an authoritative source on research practices, precedents, theory, and principles
•    Supervises students and staff and ensures all projects are completed in a timely fashion. 
•    Establishes policies and procedures for the research project
•    Ensures staff adheres to all policies, procedures, and professional standards
•    Provide technical assistance by performing experiments and then analyzing the data 
•    Assisting in obtaining and recording research data
•    Maintaining and operating standard laboratory equipment.
•    Maintain inventory of chemicals and laboratory supplies ordering
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
PhD in Biology or closely related field plus four years of Postdoctoral experience.

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability to design and analysis experiments including but not limited to echocardiography, qPCR, western blots, immunostaining, cell culture, IP’s, Viral transfection of cell lines. 
*Demonstrated ability to complete experiments in a timely-manner.
*Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. 
*Must be able to work in an environment exposed to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals.

Preferred:
*PhD degree in Molecular biology, Physiology or Biomedicine
