Job Summary

The lab's project will focus on characterizing the structures within the nucleus and how they change throughout mitosis in lower eukaryotes. The work's primary focus is the nuclear pore and includes related structures. The position is expected to work independently under the general direction of the PI in research activities. The Post-Doctoral Fellow will organize, design, and perform experiments utilizing molecular biology, cell imaging, and biochemical techniques. The postdoc will also assess new technology as it develops and suggest/make protocol improvements.

 

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks

  • Use genome-resolved multi-Omics methods.
  • Take high-resolution imaging.
  • Work with and guide students.

 

Minimum Required Education/Experience

  • Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) or enrolled in a Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) program in Biology, Pharmacology Microbiology, Computational Biology, Genomics, Systems Biology, or related discipline.

 

Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies

  • Self-motivated.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong background in biology.
  • Clear oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to contribute to grants.

Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
