Postdoctoral Scholar- Suetterlin/Tan Lab Microbial Pathogenesis
We are looking for highly motivated and scientifically curious individuals to fill NIH-funded post-doctoral scholar positions to study Chlamydia, the most commonly reported cause of infectious disease in the U.S
Research areas:
1) Developmental regulation: mechanisms by which Chlamydia uses its cell size, small RNAs and temporal gene expression to control differentiation between its replicating and infectious forms.
2) Host-pathogen interactions: how this obligate intracellular bacterium dysregulates the centrosome, cilia, cell cycle, the cytoskeleton and intracellular trafficking of the infected host cell.
These projects are a collaboration between Dr. Christine Suetterlin (Department of Developmental and Cell Biology) and Dr. Ming Tan (Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics) and at the University of California, Irvine. Example of our work: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29298975
What we are looking for: Prior experience in cellular microbiology, cell biology and/or microscopy (confocal and super-resolution), high level of motivation and curiosity, strong organizational and communication skills
