What We Want

The Postdoctoral  Research Associate will perform research in nanoprojectile-secondary ion mass spectrometry. The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of chemists, physicists, and biologists on two projects. The aim of these projects will be to find new methods for measuring protein and lipid composition of individual exosomes, in particular, the nanoenvironment around proteins and to detect rare nanoscale defects in high-performance materials. What You Need to Know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Appropriate Ph.D.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Previous postdoctoral work in mass spectrometry

  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Biochemistry, Materials Science, or a related field

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Research: Responsible for performing nano projectile-secondary ion mass spectrometry and the maintenance of a custom-built mass spectrometer. Collaborates with a team of chemists, physicists, and biologists on two projects aiming to find new methods for measuring protein and lipid composition of individual exosomes, in particular the nano environment around proteins, and to detect rare nanoscale defects in high-performance materials.

  • Data Analysis:Runs an instrument consisting of a liquid metal primary ion source with time-of-flight mass spectrometry. Assists in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting results from models.

  • Laboratory Assistance: Assists with the application of models.

  • Meetings, Seminars, and Publications: Responsible for creating and sharing periodic reports of experimental observations and results with collaborators and sponsors. Contributes to scientific publications and performs related duties as assigned.
