Department/Organization: 223102 - Nursing Instruction


Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm


Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.


Additional Department Summary: The Center for Substance Use Research and Related Conditions (CSURRC) is a University of Alabama Board of Trustees Approved center that provides opportunities for consistently identifying, developing, and adopting quality and affordable healthcare treatment options for individuals with substance use disorders, mental health, behavioral health, and other related conditions. The center has over 40 faculty affiliates from multiple disciplines, 20 student affiliates, and is supported by eight staff and five graduate research assistants. The center's affiliated faculty are sponsored by over $30 million in grant funding and contracts from the federal government, state government, and other agencies.


Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in a medical field.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment.

Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge related to nursing science and research, data collection, management and analysis utilizing various software, manuscript development, and literature reviews.


Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Nursing.
