Postdoctoral Associate

Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Neuroscience, Physiology, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field completed prior to start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:
Research experience in aging, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and related dementias. Research experience using in vitro autoradiography and in human neuroanatomy.

Brief Description of Duties:
Our research aims at elucidating the mechanisms underlying sex differences in the clinical manifestations of AD.  We utilized a combination of biochemical and molecular biology techniques to measure and analyzed the expression of candidate biomarkers by sex in postmortem brain samples and correlate their expression to antemortem cognitive function by disease stage.

The Postdoctoral Associate will conduct independent research under the guidance and mentorship of the Principal Investigator. The Postdoctoral Associate must be highly motivated, possess a strong work ethic as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

Duties:

  • Plan and conduct experiments, analyze data, and maintain scholarly knowledge in the research area.
  • Participate/assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer reviewed scientific journals.
  • Assist the PI’s research team with lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
  • May attend conferences and seminars.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.
