Postdoctoral Research Associate
Job Description
In Carnegie Mellon’s Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE), we are proud to be developing the materials that make our everyday lives better while enabling a more sustainable civilization. Our abilities and projects span a variety of materials and combine everything from physics and chemistry to civil and electrical engineering.
We are currently searching for a postdoctoral research associate to join Noa Marom’s research group in MSE. This is a dynamic opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by conducting computational research applying density functional theory (DFT) to the study of epitaxial inorganic interfaces between various materials, and other such tasks as assigned to you.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Conducting DFT simulations in a high performance computing (HPC) environment
Performing data analysis and visualization
Training and supervising masters and doctoral students
Coordinating research with external collaborators
Reporting and presenting results
Identifying problems and obstacles to progress; developing strategies to tackle problems
Participating in writing papers, reports, and proposals
Managing HPC resources
Documenting procedures; curating and preserving data
Perform other related duties as assigned

You should demonstrate:
Excellent communication skills
Strong presentation skills
Qualifications:
PhD degree is Materials Science Engineering or related field(i.e. physics, chemical engineering)
Experience conducting DFT simulations of interfaces.
Python programming experience
A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
