Job Description:
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team. The successful candidate will primarily focus on applied research in safety and speed-related sectors, whilst also engaging in other areas of transportation engineering. This role requires hands-on data collection, analysis, and interpretation; the creation and execution of online surveys; stakeholder engagement; literature reviews; and clear, impactful report writing. The role is initially for a year but has the potential to be extended or transitioned into a full-time research position.

In this role, key responsibilities include:

• Collect, extract, and reduce data
• Conduct in-depth statistical analyses
• Develop and manage online surveys
• Organize and facilitate stakeholder meetings
• Conduct detailed literature reviews
• Draft reports summarizing data, analysis, and findings
• Developing guidance and tools for implementation of research results
• Undertake additional tasks as required

Required Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in transportation engineering or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in traffic safety research or applications
• Experience with ARCGIS
• Experience with the safe systems approach
• Experience with report writing

As a $16M/year research institute, the Institute for Transportation (InTrans) at Iowa State University stands at the forefront of transportation research, serving local, regional, and national initiatives. Reporting to the Vice President for Research, we collaborate closely with the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering and other departments on campus. With the collaboration of 34 faculty members and 40 researchers across various departments, we provide a stimulating environment that fosters progressive research and knowledge transfer.
