Job Description Summary:


The School of Engineering and Computer Science at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan invites qualified candidates to apply for the open Postdoctoral Researcher position in the Industrial and Systems Engineering (ISE) Department. This postdoctoral position is a temporary position for up to one year, which may be renewed for up to two additional years.This is a training position designed for an individual to learn, through engagement, in an advanced level of scientific, technical, and administrative work and applied research setting. Responsibilities include:
· Design, organize, and conduct research using established scientific and engineering procedures participation in research data collection and documentation.
· Develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures with documentation, within relevant guidelines and protocols.
· Summarize findings and publish results in research journals.
· Inspire strategies for broadening participation, for a more diverse, equitable and inclusive future of work in engineering.
· Support grant proposal efforts; provide supervision and guidance to students, and researchers.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering or a closely related field. While the department is primarily interested in candidates with backgrounds in human factors engineering, data analytics, and manufacturing, qualified candidates in all areas of industrial and systems engineering or closely related fields are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to those applicants that will have completed the Ph.D. by the appointment date. The position will remain open, and applications will be accepted until filled

Minimum Qualifications:


ABD or a Ph.D. in Engineering (human factors engineering, data analytics, or manufacturing) or any area in industrial and systems engineering or closely related fields by the appointment date.
· Competency in research techniques.
· Effective oral and written communication skills for grant writing and manuscript publication.

Applicants meeting the requirements should submit: (1) a 1-page letter of intent; (2) a 1-page statement of commitment to engineering education and vision; (3) a 2-page statement of research vision for broadening participation in engineering; (4) a 1-page diversity and inclusion statement (5) a Curriculum Vita; (6) the names and contact information of three references and (7) unofficial transcript.
Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion and provide a statement that describes their interest or efforts in furthering diversity and inclusion, e.g., through mentoring, grant proposal writing, faculty recruitment/retention, or research on issues related to diversity and social inequality. The statement of research vision should include details on 1.) the design and implementation of research protocols with timeline 2.) framework for broadening participation of undergraduate and graduate students in engineering.
