The successful candidate will work on a project aimed at understanding the mechanisms of how the offspring remembers the exposure status of maternal micronutrient deficiency in the uterus and how it links to the disease risks of offspring later in life. The project involves candidate gene identifications and functional analyses using bulk and single-cell transcriptomics, epigenomics, and phenomics data. The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for analyzing transcriptomics and epigenomics data, developing and managing databases, and visualizing results to provide insights into the genetic basis of how maternal micronutrient deficiency affect the disease risks later in life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct multiomics studies to identify candidate traits using transcriptomics, epigenomics, and phenomics data
  • Analyze transcriptomic and epigenomic data, including mouse morphology, physiology, and growth characteristics of embryos, to identify genes and traits that can be targeted for future clinical therapies
  • Develop and manage databases to store and organize multiomics data
  • Develop and implement data visualization tools to communicate results to stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other members of the research team to integrate genomics and phenomics data and develop new approaches for improving the Developmental Origins of Health and Diseases
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts and present research findings at scientific conferences and meetings

Qualifications:

  • Appropriate Ph.D. in Genetics, Animal science, or closely related disciplines.
  • Strong background in genomics, genetics, and statistical analyses
  • Experience with transcriptomic and epigenomic data analysis
  • Proficiency in programming languages, such as R and Python, for data analysis and visualization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with appropriate laboratory and/or technical equipment
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to create databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks ?
  • Demonstrated track record of scientific publications

The salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. The post-doctoral researcher will have access to state-of-the-art science facilities and will work in a collaborative and supportive research environment.  Please submit a cover letter highlighting your interest and suitability for the position, your curriculum vitae, and names and contact information of three references. Please reach out to Dr. Masako Suzuki at masako.suzuki@ag.tamu.edu if you have any questions regarding the position.
