Responsibilities of the Development Director

• Oversee all fundraising efforts, including building and managing the annual fundraising budget and strengthening and fostering donor stewardship
• Collaborate with the Executive Director to create a multi-year development plan, executing strategies using measurable outcomes and deliverables
• Cultivate established and develop new county and statewide alliances with individuals, businesses, foundations, and philanthropists
• Develop and coach staff and volunteers to coordinate and manage fundraising campaigns and events
• Serve as the interface for all development-related activities and provide responsive support to inquiries and requests
• Research and develop new opportunities in support of organizational priorities
• Monitor and present on fundraising progress and outcomes
• Expand social media presence and manage content schedule
• Perform additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications of the Development Director

• Degree in a relevant field; certification in fundraising, non-profit management, or grant writing; and/or 3-5 years’ experience in development, sales, or fundraising required
• Proven stakeholder management and collaboration skills
• Proficiency with fundraising software and tools, Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
• High degree of organization, creativity, and desire to bring inspiration into action
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including work from home and travel throughout Vermont
