Position Highlights The University of Arizona located in Tucson, Arizona is seeking a qualified applicant for the position of Assistant Research Professor to teach AME and other engineering courses at the undergraduate level: support undergraduate, Master's, and PhD students in their research work: conduct original fundamental and applied research and publish findings in professional peer-reviewed journals, books, or electronic media.

The position requires a Ph.D. in Energy systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or foreign equivalent and 24 months of experience in thermal sciences and laser materials interactions, including industry and postdoctoral.

This career-track appointment is not eligible for tenure.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach AME and other engineering courses at the undergraduate level.
  • Support undergraduate, Master's, and PhD students in their research work.
  • Conduct original fundamental and applied research and publish findings in professional peer-reviewed journals, books, or electronic media.
  • Contribute to preparation of research proposals and build a research program with external funding from outside sponsors.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences.
  • Help manage the laboratory infrastructure, including laser and lab safety, and maintain a wide range of spectroscopic experiments and equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A PhD or foreign equivalent in Energy Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and 24 months of experience in thermal sciences and laser materials interactions, including industry and post-doctoral.
