Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator, the Research Project Associate performs a variety of research laboratory procedures in accordance with established standards and protocols. Specific duties may vary according to project assigned.

Responsibilities include: Performs a variety of research laboratory techniques with primary focus on metabolic and reproductive function, specifically with animal model of polycystic ovary syndrome. Employee will be trained by Pl or postdoctoral fellows in the lab. Techniques to be performed include, but are not limited to: mice handling, genotyping, cell culture to maintain and expand cell lines for experiments. Cell isolation, fluorescence microscopy, gel electrophoresis, DNA, RNA isolation, western blot. Prepares and determines suitability of solutions and reagents following defined formulas and procedures. Documents and reports all experimental results. Completes required logs and supporting documents. Maintains and troubleshoots equipment, routine repairs or notifying service personnel when more complex problems occur. Performs related general duties such as ordering supplies, general lab housekeeping, and maintaining safety records. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or related field and at least six months of experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Demonstrated ability to perform basic research techniques
*Ability to work with and handle mice in lab setting
*Ability to work under close supervision
*Strong documentation and organizational skills
This is a grant funded position.
