Job Description


The Stanford University School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics advances the health of infants, children, and adolescents worldwide through innovative medical care, research, training and advocacy. Ranked among the top in the nation, the Department of Pediatrics attracts medical students, interns, residents, fellows, and postdoctoral scholars from around the world. The department's programs offer a range of training opportunities in general pediatrics, critical care, and pediatric subspecialties-all within a variety of ambulatory, inpatient, and community settings. Moreover, while teaching the skills required for tomorrow's physician leaders, our programs challenge trainees to explore and develop their interests through basic science, clinical, and community-based research.

 The Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Justice in the Department of Pediatrics is looking for a qualified candidate to support the Health Equity Advanced through Learning (HEAL) Initiative. The Stanford Pediatrics HEAL Initiative is a multimodal anti-racism educational initiative whose aims are to foster a department and clinical enterprise that is trained in anti-racism concepts, empowered to apply learnings to improve clinical care, and promotes an environment of continuous learning and improvement. The HEAL Initiative includes four components: Anti-Racism Seminar, Email Challenge, Health Equity Rounds, and Huddle Guides.

 The HEAL Coordinator position will provide administrative and operational support to this important initiative. The successful applicant will be passionate about health equity issues, have program coordination experience, and a desire to collaborate and support a dynamic group of faculty and staff on a mission to improve child health equity. The HEAL Coordinator will demonstrate a positive outlook on continuous process improvement efforts while maintaining flexibility with a team-based and customer-focused mindset.

 This is a 1-year, fixed term position with the potential opportunity for renewal. The position is a hybrid role and will require at least 2 days per week of on-site work at the Stanford School of Medicine campus (Palo Alto, CA).

Duties include:

·         Respond to inquiries, and determine and take appropriate action as required. Serve as a resource regarding a defined set of policies and procedures.

·         Perform duties associated with scheduling, organizing, and operating conferences, seminars, and events, including recommending vendors for services, overseeing the production and distribution of materials, coordinating logistics, and serving as liaison with internal and external vendors.

·         Draft and/or generate routine communications; coordinate production (formatting, copying, etc.) and dissemination of documents, such as presentations, course handouts, grant proposals, conference and seminar materials, complex reports, brochures, and displays.

·         Plan and schedule calendar(s) based on consultation, resolve calendaring conflicts, and arrange travel in compliance with unit, university, and sponsor policies.

·         Process and monitor routine financial transactions, which may include researching and resolving discrepancies.

·         Maintain approved content on websites.

Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the University reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs. The pay range for this position working in the California Bay area is between $66,000 to $77,000 based on commensurate experience and background.

 EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):

 High school diploma and three years of administrative experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):

·         Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.

·         Demonstrated success in following through and completing routine tasks.

·         Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

·         Strong verbal and written communication skills.

·         Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
