Post Doctoral Scholar


Department:
FAES | Center for Food Animal Health

Support research works in microbiology, molecular biology, pathogenesis, and immunity to animal pathogens, foodborne pathogens of animal origin, pyhtopathogens, as well as studies involving the interaction of different probiotic bacteria with enteric pathogens in different animal models. Participate in experimental design, conduct research, data interpretation and analysis and preparation of manuscripts.  Will perform PCR, drug discovery using high throughput screening of small molecules, microbiome studies, real-time PCR, DNA cloning, sequencing, Plasmid DNA preparation, genomic DNA and RNA purification, protein expression, cell culture techniques, animal studies and perform literature searches of relevant topics and procedures. Responsible for general laboratory management, laboratory safety compliance, writing institutional biosafety and animal protocols, training other laboratory personnel, prepare research reports and summaries, manuscripts, posters and presentations for scientific meetings. Collaborate with other researchers in experimental design, data interpretation and analysis and preparation of manuscripts and grant application. Perform drug discovery operations using high throughput screening with small molecules and collaborate for microbiome studies, animal studies and conduct literature searches of relevant topics and procedures. 
Required Experience: PhD in Microbiology or Molecular Biology. Applicant is required to have a PhD degree in microbiology and related areas. Applicant must be proficient in using computer programs such as Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Graphic tools.  Statistical, Bioinformatics analyses programs. Ability to collaborate and work effectively on multiple projects is required. 
Desired Experience: Experience in bacterial pathogenesis, molecular microbiology of bacterial pathogens and working with animal models is preferred. Experience in supervision of students and visiting scholars is desirable. Experience with working on animal models, biochemical and histochemical techniques and statistical analysis programs.
