JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Heart & Vascular Institute in Hershey, PA is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar. A Postdoctoral scholar position is immediately available to study the role of inflammatory immune responses in mediating cardio-neuro crosstalk during heart failure. Our laboratory uses multidisciplinary approaches to study the role of different immune subsets in regulating left-ventricular remodeling and cardiac dysfunction during heart failure. Our research spans from human to animal, employing novel imaging and electrophysiologic techniques such as flow cytometry, vesicular analysis, and echocardiography. Successful candidate will possess a doctoral degree with expertise in molecular biology and testing of novel compounds for their therapeutic efficacy. Experience with cardiovascular research focusing on coronary ligations and techniques like isolation of T-cells from spleen, langendroff, separation of exosomes, analysis of exosomes via nanoFCM and surgery is essential. Experience in neuroscience with genotyping, handling, and scoring of EAE (Multiple sclerosis), perfusion, isolation of spinal cord from mice and separate lumber region, primary culture of brain cells from newly born pups is highly desired. Candidate will also be expected to analyze the data collected and present the results in formal presentations, manuscripts, and grant applications.

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
