JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Physician scientist at Penn State Hershey, Pediatric Hematology - Oncology division is seeking a qualified, motivated, and accountable Post-doctoral fellow/ researcher to join a well-funded, research team focusing on malignant hematopoiesis, mechanisms of leukemogenesis and pre-clinical validation of anti-cancer targets in hematological malignancies and pediatric solid tumors. Job involves design of experiments, execution of experiments, data analysis, record keeping, ordering lab supplies, preparing IACUC protocols, etc. Good laboratory practice with regard to conducting experiments, record keeping and organizing data required. Candidate will be expected to work on the above independently and/or with senior investigators. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and ambitious to learn. Expected proficiency in following techniques: • Transgenic mouse colony management, breeding, genotyping • Hematopoietic cell flow cytometry immune-phenotype characterization • Transduction or primary leukemia and hematopoietic cells, transplant assays • Molecular biology approaches including western blot, rtPCR and DNA, RNA, and proteins extraction, transfection. • Cell and tissue culture, cytotoxicity assay, synergy assay. • Immunology approaches including immunophenotyping, flow cytometry • General lab management and accurate documentation and maintenance of data files Preferred Qualifications: • PhD – biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology, pharmacology. • Attention to detail, ability to record and manage large data files, and ability to coordinate assignments on a day-to-day basis. • Contact information for three references and publications (if any).

This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire.
