The Tropical Research and Education Center (TREC) of the University of Florida in Homestead, Florida is seeking a postdoctoral associate to work on a project to study soil salinity impacts on vegetable crops and diseases.

Duties and Responsibilities: The candidate will conduct research to determine the impacts of soil salinity on vegetable diseases, evaluate chemical and biological inducers for their potential to mitigate impact of salinity and the diseases, and investigate the mechanisms of increased resistance to salinity and diseases by the inducers.  In addition, the postdoc will be given the opportunity to be exposed in extension activities including presenting at grower workshops, seminars, and field days. Regular reporting to funding agencies is required. The postdoc is expected to publish results in refereed journals. This position will be initially for 1 year and could be extended depending on funding availability and the performance of the postdoctoral associate.

Commensurate with Education and Experience

A PhD in plant pathology, microbiology, horticulture, plant science, or related disciplines is required. Experience in conducting plant science research is required. Effective communication skills, demonstrated publication record, and experience with experimental design and statistical analysis are essential. Field experience with plant pathology research is preferred.
