POSITION SUMMARY:
This faculty member will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Accounting, both online and in person. Professional and teaching excellence, a Christian lifestyle, and continued research in the field are expected. Instruction should be characterized by technology integration, innovation, student-centered learning, and an ability to engage industry in the classroom. Faculty members at MACU also serve as spiritual mentors and are expected to possess an active and mature Christian faith and be involved in a local church.
 
Additional responsibilities include serving as the Program Director for the Accounting and Ethics program by serving on university committees; attending university and school meetings; overseeing departmental processes necessary for overall program evaluation, strategic planning, and accreditation; advisement of students; curriculum development; selection and monitoring of faculty.
 
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses on a full-time basis
  • Assess student performance using outcomes-based assessments
  • Collaborate with content and design specialists to develop curriculum consistent with course objectives and best practices in the School of Business Leadership
  • Coordinate scheduling of courses and adjunct faculty
  • Student advisement and degree progress oversight
  • Monitoring and supervision of adjunct faculty within the program
  • Regular monitoring of full-time and adjunct faculty teaching
  • Address student and instructor issues in School of Business Leadership courses
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
The successful candidate should possess the following:
  • Expertise in the discipline
  • Strong organizational and teaching skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team to coordinate and support programs within the school and university
  • Ability to employ appropriate technology and best practices in teaching both traditional and adult learners
  • Adherence to the Christian mission and policies of the University
 
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • Doctoral degree with an emphasis in accounting preferred with consideration given to exceptional applicants with a Master of Accounting or MBA with CPA certification.
  • Experience in higher education teaching and/or administration in higher education (minimum of 3 years recommended)
  • Extensive professional experience in accountancy preferred
