Job Description

North Georgia Technical College is seeking a full-time Campus Police Officer to perform various assigned duties to maintain security and safety of students, employees and visitors to our campus. Duties include walk and patrol the campus, ensure security of doors, windows and gates, direct traffic and provide security during special events. Position requires knowledge of pertinent federal, state and local laws and regulations and ability to handle crisis situations. Proficiency in Windows applications - Word, and Excel - and other job-related software. Position performs administrative duties including reviewing reports and hourly time sheets.  Skills in interpersonal relations and dealing with the public is a must.

Pre-interview requirements:

  • Pre-employment questionnaire must be complete and returned prior to interview.
  • P.O.S.T. certification will be checked to verify that it is current and valid.

  • Written and oral skills
  • Decision making and problem solving skills
  • Skill in the operation of computers and job-related software
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to differentiate between colors.
  • Ability to complete reports according to established guidelines.
  • Ability to patrol assigned areas.
  • Ability to identify signs of unlawful entry.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal, state, and local laws and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Graduation from P.O.S.T. Certified Georgia Police Acadamy
  • Must have and continue to maintain P.O.S.T. Certification
