Responsibilities:
  • Spearhead, guide, enhance, maintain, foster, and coordinate OMRF’s scientific training programs in collaboration with designated faculty members and under guidance of OMRF’s Vice President of Research. Programs primarily include Summer Scholars, Visiting Research Graduate Traineeship/BioLAB Program, Graduate Students, and Post-Doctoral Scholar.
  • Lead efforts to analyze and evaluate scientific training programs, develop reports and responses to requests for information, ensure that messages and findings are disseminated appropriately, and may craft and/or interpret policy.
  • Manage operations of each program, ensuring program standards and infrastructure are maintained with a diversity, equity, inclusion, and accommodation focus and while balancing and considering multiple competing priorities.
  • Partner with and act as liaison between leadership, faculty, administration, and trainees.
  • Promote training programs by developing and maintaining constructive internal and external collaborations with Post-Doc Association(s), Post-Doc Training Committee, the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, in-state and out-of-state colleges and universities, SACNAS, ABRCMS, and others as appropriate.
  • Represent OMRF at various school, community and other events, meetings, and conferences to publicize training programs and act as a general OMRF ambassador, build pipelines and strategic alliances, give scientific presentations to lay and other audiences, and develop strong networks.
  • Coordinate and help ensure the successful integration and onboarding of Summer Scholars, Visiting Research Graduate Traineeship/BioLAB Program, Graduate Students, and Post-Doctoral Scholars into OMRF and assist in resolving issues.
  • Oversee and manage each program’s budget and encourage optimal experiences for all parties involved while remaining fiscally responsible.
  • Provide input to the curriculum and scientific components of programs by staying abreast of current relevant scientific research.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctorate in life science or education field or equivalent combination of education and related experience. Minimum of three years of experience in the oversight or management of scientific training and/or education programs or related field with a successful track record of meeting goals and developing programs.
 

Must have superb communication (written and verbal), organizational, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Must have ability to establish long-range strategic objectives and specific actions to achieve them. The ability to work well independently and as a team member and interact professionally with diverse personalities, cultures, and communication styles is required. Must have the ability to motivate and guide and direct people.
Preferred Qualifications:

PhD in a life science or science education field with previous experience in biomedical research strongly preferred.
