POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available immediately for a highly motivated individual to investigate molecular mechanisms of innate immunity, endothelial permeability, vascular inflammation, and lung injury using structural, biophysical, biochemical, and functional assays.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and implement research protocols: Develop and refine research protocols in collaboration with the research team. Identify and adapt new procedures, methods, or instrumentation relevant to the research objectives. Ensure compliance with ethical guidelines and regulatory requirements. Collect, prepare, and analyze research data: Perform data collection activities, including conducting experiments and gathering relevant samples or information. Prepare research data for analysis by organizing, cleaning, and formatting it appropriately. Maintain a detailed notebook summarizing experiments and recording research data. Utilize statistical and graphical software tools to analyze and present research data effectively. Maintain a computer database of research data, ensuring data integrity and security. Supervise and coordinate research efforts: Provide guidance and supervision to other laboratory personnel, ensuring smooth coordination of research activities. Collaborate with team members to allocate resources effectively and optimize research efficiency. Train and mentor fellows, residents, students, and volunteers involved in the research project. Assist with laboratory management: Assist in the procurement and ordering of necessary supplies and equipment for the research project. Contribute to the general maintenance of the laboratory, ensuring a clean and safe working environment. Oversee animal maintenance activities, ensuring the well-being and proper care of research animals. Monitor and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment to ensure proper functioning.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The successful applicant will spearhead NIH-funded research project(s) and develop the ability to work independently. Candidates should have a Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in molecular cell biology or the relevant field of study. Applicants should have a strong publication record. Prior experience in the field of innate immunity and inflammation is strongly preferred. Appointments and salary are commensurate with research experience, accomplishments and based on NIH guidelines.
