The Department of Educational Psychology (EPSY) in the School of Education and Human Development is home to a variety of interrelated disciplines and degree options focused on human development and well-being in educational and community contexts. Our undergraduate programs prepare students to work with children and youth in a variety of community and school contexts. We also offer a range of professional master’s degrees geared towards professionals in schools, communities, and the corporate world. What we want 

The Postdoctoral Research Associate is responsible for supporting a large-scale, federally funded research project by assisting with primarily the quantitative data collection, analysis and dissemination. What you need to know

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience; this position is grant funded and continued employment may be contingent upon additional grant funding.

Qualifications :

Required Education and Experience:

  • Doctoral degree.
  • Please Note: If the degree had not been conferred at the time applicant applied for a postdoc position, a letter needs to be attached from the school’s official Graduate Office and/or Registrar’s Office certifying that all requirements for the degree have been met and stating the degree conferral date.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous research experience
  • Doctoral degree in Education or related field
  • Experience working with and supporting large-scale research; experience in education related data collection, data verification, data cleaning, data analysis, and data visualization.  Experience in classroom observation coding; experience developing project proposals and manuscripts; experience mentoring and supporting data processing and analysis.
  • Strong background in quantitative analysis; scientific writing and publication skills; intermediate level knowledge of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Strong proficiency in quantitative data analysis software such as SAS, SPSS, Mplus or STATA. Strong proficiency in quantitative analysis including. HLM, SEM, CFA, EFA. Organized; pays attention to details; strong language skills in English.



Responsibilities:
Data Collection

  • Utilize TeleForm software to develop student assessment forms
  • Develop timeline for student assessment cycles and classroom coding cycles
  • Support graduate student use of TeleForm (provide training, develop testing documents, provide support as needed)
  • Oversee printing, distribution, and collection of student assessments
  • Track classroom observation collection
  • Support graduate student coding of classroom observations (support training, delegate coding assignment, monitor progress of coding)

Data Cleaning and Analysis

  • Utilize specialized software to systematically analyze project data
  • Support graduate student experiences in verifying, cleaning and analyzing data (training to prepare data sets to be analyzed, opportunities to practice analysis skills, provide feedback)  
  • Provide analysis and data visualization for coordinators and PI's
  • Develop quantitative analysis timeline and goals

Support Dissemination of Research Findings

  • Develop high quality scientific manuscripts by preparing methods, analysis, and findings
  • Develop and submit proposals, manuscripts, abstracts, and reports related to project (including technical reports and research briefs)
  • Present findings at research conferences and institutes and may perform other duties as assigned.
