Job Summary:

Location: Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck and the Campus at Florham and Online Courses

Summary of Position: The Lecture in Mathematics Education is a 9-month position in the School of Education at Fairleigh Dickinson University. The successful candidate will be responsible for administering and teaching on-line and face-to-face courses in the Master of Arts in Mathematical Foundations program. The candidate will also teach a mathematics class for elementary education candidates in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program. Potentially, the candidate may teach a graduate level mathematics methodology class for secondary education candidates.
Responsibilities:
1. Teach classes in mathematics for elementary education and middle school teacher candidates. Potentially teach secondary mathematics methodology course.
2. Advise students in the Mathematical Foundations program as needed.
3. Work with elementary candidates to ensure that the pass the CORE Battery Math and the Mathematics subtest for Praxis II.
4. Contribute to the national visibility and impact of School of Education by conducting research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at state and national conferences as appropriate at the Lecture level.
5. Develop ongoing relationships with school districts and community organizations. 
6. Develop ongoing relationships with subject matter departments (majors) at the university.
7. Monitoring performance of candidates in the Mathematical Foundations program for CAEPAccreditation. Prepare appropriate reports to maintain our CAEP accreditation as needed.

Required Qualifications:

1. An earned doctorate in Mathematics Education or comparable doctorate
2. Teaching experience in K-12 classrooms, 3+ years preferred
3. Ability to teach graduate level courses in Math and Math Methodology
4. Ability to develop and teach on-line courses
5. Established research agenda or potential to develop one
6. Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
