Advance understanding of the mechanisms by which environmental and occupational chemical exposures impact human health.
Identify and measure human environmental and occupational exposures to chemicals. Treat populations adversely affected by chemical exposures. Develop educational tools describing relative risks of chemical exposures. Contribute to public policies related to environmental and occupational chemical risks. Offer training programs for environmental health professionals.
The Institute serves as an unbiased source of expertise about environmental problems for communities, employers and governments in all areas of occupational and environmental health, toxicology and risk assessment. EOHSI members are active as advisors to international, national, state and local organizations on public health issues.

Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Clinical Psychologist for the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute (EOHSI), located in Piscataway, NJ. The primary purpose of the Clinical Psychologist is to support clinical and scholarly activity as part of the Clinical Center at the Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences Institute.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Provide weekly supervision to clinical staff; offer guidance to direct care staff, manage crisis intervention and emergencies; ensure adherence to professional standards and policies; provide quality assurance through chart review; facilitate peer review and related activities to ensure the quality of services; oversee charting and documentation to ensure that clients meet medical necessity criteria for the services, and provide clinical supervision for license-eligible interns and externs.
  • Provide diagnosis based on assessments, testing, and evaluation.
  • Provide direct patient contact including assessment and treatment planning, individual psychotherapy/assessment sessions, facilitates and supervises in-group treatment within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Provide crisis management to the 9/11 exposure population with a range of mental health problems, but especially for those who are flagged (or screened positive) by internists as having depression, PTSD, suicidal ideation, alcohol or substance abuse issues.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other professionals to provide the best care possible. Coordinate with case managers, social workers, psychologists and psychiatrists about care.
  • Complete all necessary clinical documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Ensure all services are completed according to relevant ethical and professional standards of care.
  • Performs telephone triage for new consults to mental health. Some of this work may be done remotely within a HIPAA-secured platform.
  • Serve as an advisor, consultant and/or resource person to the staff within the medical clinic to promote healthy adaptation to a range of chronic medical illnesses.

Immunization Requirements
