We are seeking an Outgoing Visitor Control Specialist to help us in the administrative functionality of the Lab's Outgoing Visitor Control Office within the Security Services Department (SECD). As a member of our Visitor Control (VC) team, you'll contribute and support staff by processing visit requests that allow for attendance at classified and unclassified meetings as well as process staff notifications of foreign travel. We are a team of engaged and hardworking Security support professionals ensuring APL technical staff can attend program meetings and enter other secure facilities. As an Outgoing Visitor Control Specialist...

  • Your primary responsibility will be to prepare and submit time sensitive visit requests for APL Staff visits to CONUS Secure facilities and OCONUS visits made to international facilities.
  • You will generate Visit Authorization Letters (VALs) in the Security Integrated Management System (SIMS) database and submit via the Defense Information Security System (DISS). Stay informed of facility procedures and update as needed. Understand various processes and forms vital to ensure Staff access at other facilities is ensured and streamlined.
  • You will process JHU/APL Staff Foreign Travel Notification forms, sending foreign travel security information, travel advisories and health alerts. Assist staff with security training requirements as needed. Enter reportable travel information into DISS government database. Assist staff acquiring and re-verifying Common Access Cards (CACs). Complete VC staff off-boarding process and badge returns.
  • As needed, assist with Contract Information Release processing.
  • Assist Incoming Visitor Control with incoming visit requests, visitor badging and other tasks as needed.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years of equivalent recent clerical/administrative and/or security experience.

  • Have strong computer and office skills to include proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

  • Have database entry experience and strong customer service skills.

  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and can interact with all levels of staff. Excellent organizational, follow through, and attention to detail skills. Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing.

  • Hold an active Secret security clearance and can ultimately obtain Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

     

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have familiarity with the NISPOM and DoD regulations concerning classified Visit Requests and knowledge of SIMS and the DISS Government databases.

  • Have knowledge of Foreign Travel Security and SEAD 3 Foreign Travel Reporting requirements.

  • Possess solid understanding of APL's culture, practices, visitor procedures.

  • Hold active Top Secret clearance.
