The Nuclear Command Communications Systems Group (QKR) at JHU/APL is seeking a Senior T&E Systems Engineer who is motivated to make impactful contributions to our nation's defense and provide systems engineering and T&E expertise to studies, analyses, and engineering teams supporting nuclear command and control communications (NC3).  As a group, QKR focuses on providing solutions that ensure communications at the highest levels of our government, and we use advanced capabilities to assist in solving our nation's communications challenges.

 

As a Senior T&E Systems Engineer, you will...

  • Participate in the engineering team supporting requirements analysis and architecture development of the next generation communications systems, providing Command and Control expertise to the engineering team.
  • Participate as an operational and technical SME in a variety of Navy and Air Force strategic systems projects, studies, and technical working groups.
  • Support the development of NC3 architectures and weapon system integration activities.
  • Lead evaluations and assessments of NC3 systems.
  • Communicate and document findings with staff and sponsors.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, operations research, technical management or another relevant, technical discipline.
  • Have at least five years' of relevant experience in communication systems engineering including requirements analysis, system architecture, simulation, evaluation, maintenance, support, testing, and problem diagnosis.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, written and oral, along with good organizational skills.
  • Are able to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Top Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Top Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in engineering, physics, applied mathematics, operations research, technical management or another relevant, technical discipline.
  • Have at least five years of operational NC2 experience in DoD systems.
  • Have familiarity with technologies and operational procedures associated with nuclear weapons systems and associated command and control.
  • Have experience working with the United States Strategic Command and/or experience working with Intelligence Community (IC) threat source agencies, processes, and documents.
  • Have the demonstrated ability to interface with sponsor, industry partners, and military personnel on a routine basis.
  • Have an active Top Secret clearance.

 

Special Working Conditions: Periodic local travel and occasional overnight travel.
