If so, we're looking for someone like you to join our Information Assurance team at APL.

 

We are seeking a motivated Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) to ensure APL 's information technology infrastructure exceeds cybersecurity requirements. As a team member, you will contribute to IS security oversight and management of our classified networks in support of Government Sponsor Programs. You will join a team of committed information assurance professionals, network, and system engineers with the same goal of network security.

 

As an ISSO...

  • Your primary area of responsibility will be the implementation, enforcement, and administration of security policies and processes required to maintain security compliance for a variety of classified networks of various complexities.
  • Management and execution of security requirements as defined by the DCSA Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM), National Industrial Security Program Operations Manual (NISPOM), and related Government directives.
  • Maintain accreditation package documentation to include Implementation Plans, Security Controls, SSP, SOP's, and related documentation. As required, initiate and assemble new IS accreditation packages.
  • Lead activities related to certification and accreditation of the IS through the development and maintenance of POA&Ms, continuous monitoring strategies and reporting.  
  • Utilize automated security tools to conduct security vulnerability assessments of systems and networked devices to facilitate risk-based decision making. Generate reports and collaborate with systems and network engineers on paths to mitigation.
  • Conduct weekly system security audit reviews, hardware and software configuration management, account management, removable media auditing, and associated reporting.
  • Understand and articulate IS plan security boundaries as related to RMF compliant systems and those defined as special purpose.
  • Collaborate with ISSOs, network, and systems engineers in the review and evaluation of DISA STIGs and SRG's in the security of various operating systems and related device and application technologies.
  • Verbal and written communications with APL security experts, Program Management, user community, and management on a wide variety of security related topics.
  • Maintain IS plan security posture and readiness for internal and Government-led security assessments.
  • Respond to a variety of communications related to IS plan service requests.  Forms of communications include ticketing systems, email, phone, and other automated applications.
  • Attend and participate in Change Control Board (CCB) and other security related meetings and forums.  Complete all required compliance training as related to the ISSO role.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Possess a BS degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field of study or equivalent experience.
  • Current DoD 8140 IAT Level II Certification (e.g. Security + CE or CISSP) or greater
  • Have 1+ years as an ISSO
  • Have 1+ years of OS Experience – Windows and/or Linux
  • Experience with DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF), NISPOM, and NIST
  • Upon hire, completion of DCSA STEPP RMF certification, eMASS certification, and other required courses/certification
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of security awareness among IT users
  • Willing to work in a closed area environment
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment or independently
  • Are able to obtain a/an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and can ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • MS degree Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent
  • Have 2+ years as an ISSO, ISSM, AISSM
  • Have 2+ years of OS Experience – Windows and/or Linux
  • Have experience with VMware and Virtual Environments
  • Have experience with Containerization Technology
  • Experience with the application of DISA STIGS, Evaluate STIG, SCC, and STIGViewer
  • Hold a Top Secret Clearance
