Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Clinic Services Representative II in the Surgery Clinic within the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
The Clinic Services Representative II performs a variety of patient registration, billing and collection duties in support of department operations. Greets and registers patients, schedules appointments, responds to routine inquiries regarding a number of operating and billing issues, receives patient payments and performs routine bookkeeping tasks.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Promptly answers incoming calls in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Greets patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Utilizes computer to schedule patient appointments for a variety of providers in a timely and efficient manner and in accordance with written policies and guidelines.
  • Utilizes computer to process full registration information for new patients, including accurately collecting and verifying insurance information.
  • Processes, researches and answers routine telephone and written inquiries for patients in a timely manner.
  • Answers routine inquiries with regards to status of patient billing, insurance payments, etc., in person in writing or by telephone while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Monitors accuracy of records.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical experience.
  • Prior experience accessing and retrieving information from a computer database.
Certifications/Licenses
  • Driver’s license. 
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment while maintaining a professional demeanor and customer service orientation.
  • Basic word processing and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of progressively responsible clerical experience in a physician office or other medical setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with billing and collections software.
  • Prior experience in billing and collections or other business oriented processes.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing. No special vision requirements. Ability to lift or exert force up to 25 lbs.

  • WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office environment. Moderate noise.
Special Conditions
  • Must be able to travel to multiple sites.

Immunization Requirements


Under Policy 60.1.35 Immunization Policy for Rutgers Employees and Prospective Employees , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same.
