The Rutgers Center for Advanced Infrastructure and Transportation (CAIT) invites applications for one postdoctoral associate position.  
 
The successful candidate will report to Dr. Hao Wang at CAIT and will work independently associated with the projects related to low-carbon concrete materials and sustainable pavements. The candidate is expected to perform both fundamental and applied researches and needs publish research findings in journal and conferences. The candidate will also assist in the development and writing of research proposals for external funding.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement
Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use in the United States or a vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
This position requires a PhD in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or related engineering fields. The candidate should have experience in one or more of the following areas 1) life cycle assessment of low-carbon concrete and pavements at material and use stages, 2) mitigation of urban heat island using engineering and infrastructure solutions, 3) application of machine learning or artificial intelligence for material design and performance prediction. The successful candidate must be self-motivated and can think broadly and conceptually and formulate creative, sophisticated solutions to complex problems, prioritize workload, and work independently with general supervision.
 
This position requires good communication and presentation skills, and strong proficiency in technical writing and editing. The individual will be expected to hold high standards in how information is developed and presented. In addition, this position will require the ability to manage, document, and organize multiple simultaneous projects.

Statement
The initial appointments will be for 12 months. The remuneration and benefits are competitive, and commensurate with qualification and experience. Immunization Requirements

Under Policy 100.3.1 Immunization Policy for Covered Individuals , if employment will commence during Flu Season, Rutgers University may require certain prospective employees to provide proof that they are vaccinated against Seasonal Influenza for the current Flu Season, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Additional infection control and safety policies may apply. Prospective employees should speak with their hiring manager to determine which policies apply to the role or position for which they are applying. Failure to provide proof of vaccination for any required vaccines or obtain a medical or religious exemption from the University will result in rescission of a candidate’s offer of employment or disciplinary action up to and including termination.
