Position Summary:
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist IV for the Department of Medicine within the New Jersey Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and a senior lab member, this position will assist in ongoing immunological research projects in the Salgame laboratory. Candidates should be familiar with multicolor flow cytometry, cellular immunology techniques, in vitro cell culture models and gene expression analysis. The candidate will be trained to work in BSL3 facilities. The selected candidate is expected to work under minimal supervision.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists in the establishment of performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and instrumentation.
- Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development. Evaluates existing procedures and proposes modifications or changes in order to keep the methodology and procedures current.
- As assigned, performs various research and technical procedures.
- Assists with the instructing and training of students, fellows, technicians and laboratory assistants as required.
- Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments.
- May be required to compile data and present results.
- Submits purchase recommendations, to his/her supervisor, of equipment and supplies.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Master's Degree in a relevant science, or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience.
