Summary

The Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at the University of Michigan invites applications for the position of Lecturer I beginning May 25, 2023. The successful candidate will teach one Asian cultural course in the Fall of 2023 and two courses in the Winter of 2024.

This is not a tenure-track appointment. Due to the replacement nature of this appointment, the funding for this position will only be available in Academic Year 2023-2024.

Required Qualifications*

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field of Asian Studies. Native or near-native proficiency in English is required; at least two years of experience teaching at the college/university level is preferred.

Desired Qualifications*

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience successfully teaching survey courses in China as well as seminars on topics that span East Asia.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
