OFFICE OF ADMISSIONS STATEMENT:
The Office of Admissions plays a crucial role at the college, and our oversight includes (but is not limited to) student recruitment, application processing, and aiding through the student enrollment process. JOB SUMMARY:
The Specialist III reports to the Assistant Director of Operations in Admissions and is responsible for processing student admissions application records, ensuring integrity of data entry, upholding policies and regulations, and completing a variety of tasks each day. This position assists students, staff, and community, answering inquiries, and researching and resolving admissions and records issues. The Specialist is expected to learn and perform all duties of the Admissions Office Processing Team. The position handles a high volume of work using digital and paper files, data entry, e-mail, and phone calls, and has direct contact with both internal and external customers. The Specialist is extremely detail-oriented and accurate, and able to problem solve, make knowledgeable decisions, and multi-task frequently and consistently. The Specialist is also tasked with providing outstanding customer service to students, parents, alumni, and staff through a variety of contacts.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

Maintain, update and process student applications. This includes but is not limited to matching student records, assigning admissions coding, archiving, scanning/indexing, address and name changes, program of study changes and other data entry processes/procedures as it relates to the student record. Responsible for ensuring that assigned tasks are completed in compliance with various institutional and regulatory requirements. Research and resolve discrepancies and problems within student records. Troubleshoot errors. Collaborate with students and staff to provide cross-functional support in the Admission’s Office. Maintain high regard for student privacy in accordance with the FERPA privacy policies and procedures. Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by supporting the College’s mission, vision and values and adhering to institutional policies. Participate in general office duties including responding to emails, answering calls both internally and externally with questions regarding student applications, and assisting walk-ins. File, sort and shred documents. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Experience with computers, and data entry.
  • Must be able to work evening shift.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates Degree
  • Comfortable with computers and ability to learn new programs.
  • Detail oriented and self-motivated with good customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of SLCC Banner, Salesforce Enrollment Rx CRM, and Etrieve document management systems is preferred. Prior experience in higher education, particularly in a records or admissions setting.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
  • Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.

Special Instructions

This will be an evening position mainly 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm. This position may require the successful completion of a criminal background check.
