We are looking for a Research & Publications Program Manager for our de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture.

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Research and Publications Program Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and implementing details related to research, publications, and academic initiatives sponsored by the de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture. This position works with the de Nicola Center’s Assistant Director to develop short- and long-term scholarly priorities for the Center and manages workflow related to academic programs, publications, and the Center’s research initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with assistant director to identify priorities and develop short- and long-term strategies for future academic initiatives and collaborations
  • Manage and implement details related to academic initiatives hosted by the Center, including the Center’s annual Fall Conferences
  • Manage details related to conference and lecture co sponsorships
  • Work with sr. associate director, assistant director, faculty fellows, and other relevant advisors to identify individuals for potential lecturers, visiting fellows, authors in book series, members of scholarly advisory boards, etc.
  • Drive activity in the Center’s substantive research themes
  • Coordinate collaborative research projects with on campus partners including the Jacques Maritain Center
  • Serve as liaison for faculty fellows and visiting scholars, working with office administrators to provide support as needed
  • Offer support as needed to graduate student fellows conducting research and connects research fellows of the Center with student assistants.
  • Serve as liaison with University of Notre Dame Press to oversee development of dCEC book series
  • Establish important connections, solicit manuscripts, field inquiries, identify possible reviewers, and monitor projects as they travel through the publication process
  • Research potential funding opportunities for dCEC and provides support through the grant application process
  • Offer support to research fellows and associated faculty as requested
  • Process funding requests from numerous campus partners
  • Coordinate graduate fellowship applications and process graduate fellowships in consultation with faculty fellows, Notre Dame faculty, and administrators
  • Lead, manage, and hold accountable one full-time program coordinator
  • Foster relationships inside and outside the university to increase academic collaboration and partnerships

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or advanced certification beyond
  • Experience: 2+ years, preferably in an academic or nonprofit setting

Experience/Skills Required
  • Demonstrated evidence of effective oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students
  • Ability to think strategically, seeing and connecting big picture goals and values with mission, while also handling day-to-day details
  • Deep understanding of academia and research; appreciation of the de Nicola Center’s Catholic and academic knowledge-based character
  • Strong organizational, analytical, project management skills
  • High degree of independence and initiative; action-orientation
  • Commitment to the mission of the de Nicola Center, the College of Arts and Letters, and the University of Notre Dame; passion for Catholic values and moral thought.

Supplemental Qualification Required
  • Conversant with, engaged in, and committed to the Catholic moral and intellectual tradition (including its emphasis on Culture of Life issues). He or she must have enthusiasm both for communicating this tradition and for engaging productively with current issues in the public square.
