The mission of the Lucy Family Institute for Data and Society (LFIDS) is to enable positive impact on society and individual lives through innovative domain-informed and data-driven methods and applications. LFIDS is looking to reduce health inequity through targeted research at its new Health Equity Data Laboratory (HEDL). The vision for this Laboratory is to become the global convening center of discussions and solutions on health equity data; advance interdisciplinary research and translation at the intersection of health equity and data science / AI, identified through a collaborative process; and develop a comprehensive framework for co-creation and co-innovation in the health equity data domain to frame problems in the right context, identify relevant data, structure the robust ethical foundations towards the development of the solution, and develop AI/analytics data-driven research in response to the challenge and context.
As part of this effort, we are looking for a managing director (MD) who will help execute this vision. The MD will lead health equity research project teams on health equity across multiple research projects, to deliver high quality analytic results that support the achievement of strategic objectives of the Lab and the Lucy Institute, develop collaborative relationships with internal and external experts to support the research agenda, develop strategic vision for the Lab to advance the quality of the research team deliverables and identify the opportunities for expanding the outreach in line with the strategic objectives.
In addition, the MD will be responsible for all operations in the Lab, including budget management, performance of goals and indicators, development and deployment of data platform, interface with external stakeholders to facilitate and/or enhance execution of research and/or expand our portfolio of data assets, participating (and leading at places) in the establishment, development, oversight, and review of HEDL research, education, and engagement programs. The MD will also supervise student workers and faculty hired for HEDL, and other support staff that will be hired for the initiative.
The MD will also help launch and/or support the bi-annual Forum and other activities, workshops, and funding initiatives required for HEDL. In collaboration with the LFIDS Director, the MD will oversee the budget of HEDL, financial controls and management, procurement, and other related activities. The MD will prepare financial stewardship and HEDL operating reports for the internal and external stakeholders. The MD will also bring forth a curiosity and engagement with the broader Lucy research and educational programs, and proactively identify any challenges and bottlenecks.

Minimum Qualifications
1. At least a master’s degree in health services research (HSR), health economics, epidemiology, sociology, psychology or equivalent combination of education and experience;
2. 5+ years of experience managing research teams or programs;
3. Experience driving health disparities and current challenges in the field;
4. Experience independently designing, leading, and conducting health care research projects;
5. Experience designing research studies involving collection of patient-reported outcomes using survey research methodologies;
6. Experience conducting health economics, epidemiological, comparative effectiveness, population management, or related research in various disease or policy areas;
7. Demonstrated experience managing all aspects of health care research projects including management of teams across multiple functional areas;

1. Demonstrated experience in data-driven research
2. Understanding of measures and analytic approaches used to identify challenges and track improvements in equitable care.
